About Specific Physiotherapy Preston
Specific Physiotherapy Preston is a locally owned and operated clinic deeply rooted in the Preston and inner northern Melbourne community. Founded by Billy Gilhooley, the practice opened with a clear mission: to deliver hands-on, personalised physiotherapy and remedial massage care that truly makes a difference in people’s everyday lives.
Billy brings more than a decade of clinical experience, including four seasons working as a sports physiotherapist and massage therapist with the Hawthorn Football Club. That elite-level background in managing high-performance athletes now benefits everyday Preston locals — from office workers with nagging back or neck pain, to weekend warriors recovering from sports injuries, and families seeking better movement and long-term wellness.
We are proud to be an active part of the Preston community. In 2026, Specific Physiotherapy became a major sponsor of the Preston Bullants AFC, supporting local footy players and helping keep our community active and healthy. We also contribute to local health initiatives, run free posture and movement workshops, and regularly share practical tips through community events and online resources to help Darebin residents move better and prevent injuries.
A Feel-Good Community Story
One of our favourite moments was helping a long-time Preston resident — a retired teacher in her late 60s — who had been struggling with chronic shoulder pain that stopped her from gardening and playing with her grandchildren. After a tailored treatment plan combining manual therapy, targeted exercises, and clinical guidance, she sent us a photo a few months later: beaming in her backyard with a shovel in one hand and her grandson on her shoulders. Stories like this remind us why we do what we do — it’s not just about fixing pain, it’s about giving people their life and joy back.
We love being a small, welcoming clinic on Plenty Road where patients feel heard, cared for, and supported every step of the way.
